if im a tourist,
i would come to singapore if i look at this picture
what a beautiful beautiful singapore girl
im gonna write about the SIA air stewardess not because im aspired to be like them nor im gonna join that profession. dun worry, i know my limits. with my current figure, i think i can only carry luggages behind the counter, away from the prying eyes of the public. HAHA

i know the Singapore Girl is actually a very prestigious thing
it's more of a BRAND than a profession or a job.
and i guess in order for them to uphold such prestige, the selection process has to be really strict. and what i personally feel is that not every pretty face can be an air stewardess. a combination of looks, figure and perhaps most importantly, the PERSONALITY and ATTITUDE plays a part.

i was on SQ once and this air stewardess was serving my section.
she was in green by the way.
so naturally i expect more from her in terms of poise, service and the attitude towards passenger. i remember i was sitting at the economy class, but then i don't think there should be any differences when it comes to serving first class or economy. all human have equal rights, right?
so the feeling she gave me was BAD.
she seemed a little stuck up.
i know she's probably earning more than what graduates are being paid but seriously i wonder if she is there to SERVE or to just earn money. if everyone chooses to be an air stewardess just because they want that prestige, free travel and good money, then the service quality will simply not be there.

the other day i was just thinking about the bad performance of the service sector in singapore. with the increase of GST, we should expect better service. but sometimes walking into a store makes me feel like i OWE them. if you try on a pair of shoes and then you don't want to get it, you see what the salesgirl will react. she picks up the shoe, turn and walk away. showing that face of disgust. i'll be so bloody irritated and will never visit that shop again man. well seriously it's not my fault that the shoes are bloody uncomfortable. pui

how come im blabbering about services suddenly?! haha
stupid pig and i met a friend today and we sat down talking about careers and banks and engineering's future. he has alot of opinions and insights into the current industry and it's good to be speaking about the future with someone who is knowledgeable and updated. i feel like ive just googled thru all information within that hour of conversation HAHA.

so the thing is that i expressed my interest in finding a job in the tourism sector. im interested in this particular job --> management associate at the STB. while everyone is going towards aeronautics, marine, banking and manufacturing, my goals are kinda different. i wanna SERVE. i wanna be part of the organisation that deals with people. a more dynamic environment where i get to meet people across the globe, business trips, cultural exchange and thus to achieve JOB SATISFACTION. or if not, i would wanna join hotel management. taking care of daily operations, strategising, branding, planning and forecasting... these are the roles i would like to play.

i guess i have alot of work to do before graduation.
afterall, im planning of moving into a totally different environment as compared to engineering.
but then, ive never regretted taking up engine. working with equations and analysing fluid flows stimulates my brain cells. what i need from an education is the ability to think and to analyze.

issnt that what education is all about?
