for once i stayed up to watch soccer in the middle of the night and i even watched right smack to the point where the italians were raising up the trophy. so 90mins of full time play, plus 30mins of extra time and finally a penalty shootout, 2006 world cup is not as impressive as it should be. it SHOULD be an exciting game of 22 famous people battling out beautifully on the pitch. JOGA BONITO you know.. but where is the BONITO?

for the first half, you see the italians making wonderful and accurate passes. they dominated the match with a 59% possession. but when it comes to the second half, they stumbled. And then france led the game with perhaps a 51% possession for the next part of the game and into extra time. At 110th minute, Zidane did something shocking and i felt sorry for him. the french cannot bear to have a red card at such crucial time you know. but then, the french still played well despite being one men down. so what the hell are those italians doing? i thought with zidane off the pitch and french's morale being low, the italians should be able to score! -frowns-

and i hate to see the match going into penalty shoot out. it is no longer joga bonito. there is not much of a "skills" to talk about but "luck". you see the italian keeper, buffon, diving at all the wrong directions, you cant say he is good at saving balls during penalty. but you see france's keeper, barthez, diving at the correct direction! it's a pity that he just didnt managed to reach out far enough. isn't it sad? at that point of time, i feel the french deserve the trophy more.

the last thing on my mind before i turned off the tv was that "what will happen to Trezeguet?" i felt kinda sad for him. it is not his fault you know.. but what will the fans think? i remember in one of the world cup matches, one of a columbia player was shot when he went home. simply because the guy cost the team to lose the game. and i become very worried for Trezeguet. i hope he will be safe. -fingers crossed-

and this morning when i flipped the pages, i saw C. Ronaldo saying that he HAS to leave manchester united for spanish clubs due to the ugly incident of Rooney's exit during the quarters. i feel that SHOULD he really leave, the english fans will take it as he is GUILTY. if he is not guilty then why should he leave? and furthermore, he claims that he is still on good terms with Rooney? so why the hasty decision? and he said he wanna join Real Madrid. but the latter has no intention of buying him out of his contract i think. so now i wonder who will Ronaldo turn to?

closing the chapter of world cup, we have the english premier league to entertain us again. how wonderful!
